Dolphin Delivers Duplex Stainless Reboiler Package for LNG Train Expansion

An LNG train expansion project required six reboilers to match the fractionation duty of the new train, with the EPC contractor's schedule fixing delivery to a single window that left no room for a late material substitution or a failed hydrotest to be absorbed without slipping the wider project schedule.

Dolphin engineered and fabricated the reboilers in duplex stainless steel, qualifying weld procedures specific to the alloy before cutting any production material — a sequencing decision that meant the first plate cut was already covered by an approved procedure rather than running qualification and fabrication in parallel under schedule pressure.

Thermal design was verified against the licensor's process data using HTRI before fabrication release, catching a duty margin question at the design desk rather than at commissioning, where a shortfall would have meant a rework cycle the EPC schedule had no float to absorb.

All six reboilers were hydrotested, documented to EN 10204 3.2 and delivered to the EPC contractor's site within the fixed delivery window, giving the wider train expansion project no schedule exposure from the heat exchange package.
