Chemical Cleaning

Engineered chemical cleaning that dissolves what water cannot — with chemistry matched to deposit and metallurgy, and full effluent control.

Why This
Matters

The wrong specification here doesn't show up on day one — it shows up as downtime, contamination or wasted energy later.

Asset protection

The wrong acid on the wrong alloy destroys equipment faster than any fouling; cleaning chemistry is an engineering decision, not a generic off-the-shelf procedure applied to every metallurgy the same way.

Process integrity

Deposits water cannot touch — hardened scale, process polymers, oil films — keep exchangers below duty no matter how often they are jetted. Mechanical cleaning alone cannot reach what chemistry dissolves.

Operational efficiency

Chemical cleaning reaches every tube and crevice simultaneously, restoring circuits that mechanical methods cannot fully access — including headers, U-bends and other geometry a lance cannot reach.

How a chemical cleaning works

How It Works

Chemical cleaning circulates an engineered solvent through the equipment, dissolving deposits chemically, then passivates the cleaned metal and neutralises the spent solution.

  1. 1

Deposit samples are analysed to select solvent, inhibitor, concentration and temperature.

  2. 2

Temporary circulation loop is rigged with pumps, heaters and monitoring.

  3. 3

Solvent circulates while iron counts and pH are tracked to determine the cleaning endpoint.

  4. 4

Rinse, neutralise and passivate to leave a protected metal surface.

  5. 5

Spent chemicals are neutralised and disposed of per environmental regulations, with a documented close-out report.

Configurations
We Offer

Every variant Dolphin builds — each engineered for a specific duty, not a catalogue default.

01

Circulation Cleaning

Best For
Installed exchangers, boilers and closed circuits.
Advantage
Cleans in place — no disassembly or bundle pulling.
02

Immersion (Bath) Cleaning

Best For
Pulled bundles and plate packs at the workshop.
Advantage
Full immersion reaches geometry circulation cannot.
03

Pre-commissioning Cleaning

Best For
New circuits before first start-up.
Advantage
Removes mill scale and construction debris that would destroy machinery.

How to
Choose

CriterionGuidance
Deposit chemistryCarbonate, sulphate, iron oxide, or organic — lab analysis picks the solvent that actually dissolves it.
MetallurgyInhibitor packages and chemistry are constrained by the most sensitive alloy in the circuit.
System configurationCircuit volume, dead legs and drain points shape the rig design and flush plan.
Environmental constraintsEffluent neutralisation and disposal route are engineered into the job plan, not an afterthought.

Key
Benefits

What sets chemical cleaning from Dolphin apart, in specific and measurable terms.

  • 01

Why Dolphin for
Chemical Cleaning

Chemistry chosen by engineers

Deposit analysis and metallurgy drive solvent selection — we clean to an endpoint, monitored in real time.

Combined-method capability

Chemical plus hydrojetting in one mobilisation tackles layered deposits other vendors bounce between.

Compliant by default

Effluent handling, neutralisation and disposal documentation are built into every job plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

From laboratory analysis of a deposit sample plus circuit metallurgy — solvent, inhibitor, temperature and duration are engineered per job.

Inhibited chemistries hold base-metal corrosion to negligible rates, verified with corrosion coupons during the clean.

Yes — temporary circulation rigs clean installed exchangers, boilers and circuits without disassembly.

By data: dissolved iron and pH stabilisation define the endpoint, followed by inspection.

Full neutralisation and disposal through approved routes, with certificates in the close-out dossier.

Yes — degreasing, pickling and passivation of new circuits ahead of first start-up.

Yes, with chloride-controlled chemistries for stainless and dedicated protocols per alloy.
